Mullein Herb For Lung Issues

MulleinSometimes we’re faced with lung issues during cold and flu season.  I personally developed a very severe case of bronchitis a couple years ago.

That winter was a particularly stressful one for me, which I believe was the cause of the illness hitting me so hard.

At the time, I wasn’t aware of the healing benefits of mullein, especially for the lungs.

Well, now I do, and I have it available and ready for use this winter.  It grows wild where I live in the Northwest USA, so I am able to gather and dry it in order to make tea.

074Mullein is a rather tall plant when flowering with soft, hairy leaves and lovely yellow flowers that form in clusters.  The whole plant can be harvested and used to make tea or infusions.

(An infusion is simply a very strong tea that has steeped for several hours.)  See how to make an herbal infusion here.

Mullein is especially good for the lungs, namely for clearing congestion due to bronchitis, asthma, allergies, and other conditions.  Mullein helps to thin secretions for more productive coughing.

I harvested some of this in the fall to have on hand for the winter months. I like to have lots of remedies available at my disposal when anyone in my family gets sick or has symptoms I want to ease.

If you want to purchase mullein, I recommend this source for high-quality bulk herbs.  Keep some on hand this winter.

If you have allergies or asthma, you may want to keep it around all year.  Try it and let me know what you think!
